SUPPORTERS of Tavistock Cricket Club have a feast to look forward to as they consider the prospect of 81 home fixtures before the season closes on September 24.
These include games on Sundays and midweek, as well as the regular pattern of Saturday league matches involving the first and second elevens.
There are also fixtures involving year teams representing the club's colts.
The first eleven will be competing this season in the B division of the Devon County League. Tavistock will play the other nine clubs in this division on a home-and-away basis on successive Saturdays between May 6 and September 2.
The home fixtures are: May 6 v Shobrooke Park; May 20 v Clyst St George; June 3 v Bideford; June 24 v Exeter St James; July 15 v Axminster; July 29 v Plymstock; August 12 v United Services; August 19 v Hatherleigh; September 2 v Bradninch.
The second eleven's league campaign follows a similar pattern. Home fixtures are scheduled for those Saturdays between May 13 and August 26 when the first team is away.
While the league campaigns inevitably occupy the centre of the stage, a number of friendly fixtures will provide attractive fare at the Ring on Sundays and weekdays.
A number of touring sides, many of them making their annual visits, will be welcome visitors.
The club also hopes to make progress in the county cup competition. The first round sees Tavistock drawn away to Clyst St George on May 14.
There is an air of confidence around at the Ring as the new season beckons. The hope is that there is some sunshine to match the club's efforts.
