OKEHAMPTON Fire Station hosted its family open day at the weekend and raised more than £600 for a firefighter recently diagnosed with cancer.
On Saturday, August 5 the fire station held an event that included a sponsored cycle, fire safety demonstrations and the opportunity for visitors to look around the station.
In total the event raised £630 and proceeds raised will go towards the Jason Bragg fund — a firefighter from St Austell who is suffering with cancer.
The money will go towards making some precious memories for Jason and his family and also help to provide security for his family’s future.
Gary Langan, crew manager at Okehampton Fire Station, said: ‘Everyone here at Okehampton Fire Station would like to thank all the people who visited the open day. We hope you all enjoyed yourself and had a great time. In total we raised £630 which will go towards a fantastic cause.’
