HATHERLEIGH firefighters rescued a horse from a disused slurry pit on a farm at Dolton earlier today (January 8).
The firefighters used farm machinery to gain access to the slurry pit, where a specialist rescue team from Barnstaple used lines, strops and small tools to pull the horse out. A crew from Chulmleigh also attended.
The crews were called out at 9.15am. The horse was left in the care of a vet and the owner.
