A THEFT from Okehampton Recycling Centre and a dog dangerously out of control feature in this week’s #newsfromtheblues crime page.
• A theft from a vehicle parked at Fernworthy Reservoir in Chagford took place on August 14 between 11.30 and 1pm. The drivers side door lock was broken so the offender was able to gain access to the vehicle. A handbag, purse, wallet, driving licence, pen knife and £25 worth of cash were stolen from the car. • Okehampton Recycling Centre was broken into on August 17 between 5.15pm and 8.30am the following morning. The offender entered through the side gate by breaking the padlock and stole the contents of a skip which contained copper and aluminium. CR/069650/17.
• A dog was dangerously out of control in Drewsteignton on August 13 at around midday. The dog’s male owner was present when the dog attacked another man in the church yard. After a dispute between the men the dog jumped up and attacked the man, causing three wounds on his chest. The man was taken to A&E at Exeter Hospital where doctors discovered three deep puncture wounds to his chest. A police spokesperson said that the owner of the dog was arrested after he was verbally abusive and that the dog had been previously reported to be out of control by other members of the public. • A flat on North Street in Okehampton had its doors damaged on August 12 between 7am and 8am. A police spokesperson said that it seemed the offender had caused damage by kicking the door. The resident of the property reported that when they heard a noise they went downstairs, however, the offender had run away. CR/067752.
