SHOPLIFTING, a smashed window at a bookies and counterfeit notes feature in the Tavistock area crimes this week.
• TWO outboard motors were stolen from a boat stationed at Weir Quay in Bere Ferrers between 5pm on September 2 and 8am on September 3. The police said the cost of the motors was around £400. • A thief was caught on CCTV shoplifting from WHSmith in Tavistock on Saturday, September 2 at around 2.25pm. The female offender stole DVDs which were located at the back of the store. She then dumped an empty basket at the front of the store and got into a silver vehicle outside of the store and drove off. CR/075078/17.
• On September 2, at 4.10pm, a man attempted to steal two Lego model kits from Kaleidoscope Toys in Tavistock. The two items had a combined cost of £140. The offender was chased by staff, before dropping the kits and running out of the store. CR/075090/17.
• Criminal damage was caused to the rear of a white van parked on Drake Road in Tavistock. The offender broke into the back of the locked van and stole tools worth £1,000. The incident happened between 6.30pm on September 5 and 7am the following day. CR/076321/17.
• A white Volkswagen transporter parked on Whitchurch Road was criminally damaged between 10.30pm on September 5 and 8.30am on September 6. The offender smashed the passenger side window. CR/076273/17.
• The window of William Hill bookmakers on King Street in Tavistock was smashed between 9.45pm on September 6 and 8am the following day. Nothing was stolen from the store and the police suspect it was smashed by someone punching the window. CR/076603.
• On Walkhampton Road in Horrabridge an offender attempted to break into a parked Ford transit vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the layby near Horribridge school. Police said that no entry was made, however, damage was caused. The incident happened between 5.30pm on September 6 and 6.30am the next morning. CR/076641.
• A counterfeit £20 Scottish note was used in the Woodside charity shop in Yelverton on August 26.
The offender purchased a £1 book and given £19 change and left the store. After the offender left the store, staff discovered that the note was fake. CR/076577/17.
