DARTMOOR Search and Rescue Team Tavistock announced last week that it was in ‘desperate need’ for a replacement rescue control vehicle to ensure it can continue its lifesaving service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Earlier this year the team launched its Rescue-50 appeal to raise £50,000 in 2020 for the new vehicle which was scuppered due to the pandemic — but as lockdown restrictions were lifted the team has found itself busier than ever before.
A spokesperson from the team said: ‘We set a fundraising goal of £50,000 in early January to raise the money we need to buy and fit-out a new vehicle. Unsurprisingly, this has been scuppered due to the pandemic but as the South West opens up and more people are using our beautiful countryside again we have found ourselves busier than ever.’
So far, the team has raised more than £15,000.
