AN UNUSUAL nativity play delighted audiences at Lifton Primary School.

'It's A Cracker' opened with a family gathering for Christmas lunch. During the meal, Grandad started reminiscing (again!) about how different Christmas was when he was a lad.

When he started telling them about the original Christmas Day, one of the kids thought he meant he had been there, and he had to point out that although he was old, he was not that ancient.

As he talked, the traditional nativity story played out on stage beside them. With delightful songs and lots of cracker-type jokes, the story interwove between the dining room and the stable.

The excellent singing and the costumes and sets transported the action easily between now and the first Christmas Day, enthralling everyone and winning enthusiastic applause from the large audiences.
