Stratton United 0
Gunnislake Reserves 4
THIS was a game of two different styles, the long ball of Stratton against the passing game of Gunnislake. It was the long ball game that started the better as Stratton pushed forward from the start.
Had it not been for the quick thinking of Steve Gaggini and two great saves from Jason Luscombe, Gunnislake could have found themselves behind before getting their own game going.
As Gunnislake started to get on top they earned a free kick on the left hand side, which man of the match Matt Thompson floated into the near post for Jason Goldsmith to head home.
Five minutes later Matt Thompson popped up in the box unmarked to score with a fine shot, following a great run down the right from full back Wayne Stevens.
The second half saw wave after wave of Gunnislake attacks driven on by the midfield of J Arnold, S Cribbs, S Conam and C Wyatt, and the intelligent running of the front pair M Thompson and J Goldsmith were opening up the Stratton defence, only a fine displayby the Stratton keeper kept the score down.
Matt Thomspon was involved in the third goal as he found Chris Wyatt with another corner, Chris met the ball with a shot from the six yard line.
The goal of the match started with some good combination play between the midfield before the ball was played to Jason Arnold who from 20 yards struck the sweetest of shots into the top corner.
Gunnislake Reserves next match home to Neapean, kick off 2:30pm Saturday September 26.
