A MOCK wedding featuring youngsters from Lamerton Primary School was well attended by local residents, parents and pupils.

As part of the school's religious education work on celebrations the children staged the wedding at St Peter's Church in Lamerton.

The bells were rung by Ian Minshull, the organ was played by Mrs Hill, Mike Jefferies led the service, and the flowers were by Shona Dickenson.

Melody Nicholls, headteacher of Lamerton and Gulworthy primary schools, was so impressed by the amount of people who turned up to the mock wedding dressed in all their 'finery'.

She said: 'We had a bride, groom, father of the bride, bridesmaids, ushers, a best man and many guests.

'After the service, the children had a mock reception, complete with a three tier cake — made by the children — and speeches.

'The people of Lamerton showed their support and turned out in their best dresses!

'It was a superb event which will be remembered for many years.'
