A WEST Devon youngster has received recognition for his dedication as a young carer at the Parents Carers Voice convention held recently.
Mark Lewis, from Tavistock and pupil at St Peter's Primary School, was awarded the Parent Carers Voice Young Carer Award at the ceremony held at Buckfast Abbey.
The convention held for parents of disabled children, carers and professionals was well supported.
All the guests heard how Mark, 10, has been a thoughtful and caring person to his severely autistic brother Paul, never complaining despite when things were difficult at home and coping with little or no sleep, getting on with his life and school.
Mark also assists coaching the Under 12s disability football squad, the Tavi Specials.
His father, Allen, said: 'We are so proud of Mark and so pleased he has received this well deserved award — he really is a star!'
