A 6.5-mile round walk of discovery organised by Calstock Footpath Society follows a route identified by names and places synonymous with the far west but, perhaps, are not so well known locally.
Starting at Luckett car park the walk takes a path towards New Mills, through Wheal Sheba, Martha Woods and Higherland towards Lidwell, Poundfield and Pempwell. It then crosses fields to Hampton Manor and Horsebridge and loops back to Luckett.
There are a few gradients and several 'tall' stiles. There is an option for a cream tea following the walk but it needs to be booked by June 22 by ringing 01579 370474. or emailing [email protected]">[email protected] Bring a packed lunch. The walk is not suitable for dogs. Non-members of the society are asked for a donation of £2.
Meet Luckett car park (SX389 736) at 11am, Sunday, June 30. For more information tel 01579 370474.
