AN application to build new homes in Horrabridge has been recommended for refusal by officers of Dartmoor National Park.
The scheme, lodged by Burbage Property (SW) Ltd, is for the demolition of timber garages and a pre-fabricated concrete workshop at 24 Station Road. They would be replaced by four flats — three of them affordable — and two houses, together with ten parking spaces, one disabled.
Horrabridge Parish Council objected to the proposal, saying the site was over-developed and the the proposed homes would be too close to the boundaries of existing properties.
But there were no objections from various agencies, including Souh West Water and the Cultural Heritage Service, while West Devon Borough Council's housing officer supported the proposal.
There were six letters of objection to the scheme submitted to the park authority.
Planning officers are advising park members to reject the application. They claim that without an agreement ensuring three units remain available in perpetuity for affordable housing for local people, it fails to meet planning policy requirements.
The application goes before the park's development management committee tomorrow (Friday).
• Other plans to be debated tomorrow include one to erect an agricultural building and access track at Notxul Field, Grenofen, by Bowrish Sawmills — it is recommended for approval — and one for alterations and extensions at 24 Binkham Hill, Yelverton, submitted by Mr B and Ms C Palmer, and also recommended for approval.
