ALL are welcome to come along to listen to Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band’s open rehearsal for the South West Brass Band Association’s upcoming contest.

The open rehearsal at the Conservative Club in Kempley Road, Okehampton on Thursday, November 1 at 7.30pm is a warm up for the major regional competition on Saturday, November 3.

The band’s rehearsal will include a chance to listen to Lydian Pictures by celebrated living composer Simon Dobson, who grew up not far away in Launceston.

‘We would like to invite people to come and listen free of charge on November 1,’ said band spokesperson Heather Edwards Entwistle.

‘It will give our audience an idea of the warming up and tuning process, ironing out problems and in return it will give the band the experience of playing the piece in front of a live audience.’
