OKEHAMPTON ladies A tennis team have maintained their mid table position in the Exeter and District Tennis League division two after winning two and losing two in their last four matches.
In their first home match against Kingsteignton Beth Carter and Angela Herrod-Taylor managed two straight set victories. With Jackie Jarvis still injured, Becca Jarvis and Hannah Packer played together for the first time and both produced some fine tennis to gain two points for Okehampton after beating Kingsteignton's second pair 6-3, 3-6 10-7, with Kingsteignton's first pair taking the other match. This was an excellent win for Okehampton giving them a valuable six points.
The following week away against Torquay Okehampton struggled and only came away with three points.
At home against Victoria Park both couples played well with Beth and Jackie winning both of their matches and Angela and Becca winning one and losing one, giving Okehampton a 6-3 victory.
Ottery St Mary travelled to Okehampton the following week. Hannah and Angela played together for the first time and had some good rallies and close games but Ottery were too strong and they won both matches. Despite not being fully fit, Jackie played some superb tennis as did Beth to beat both of Ottery's pairs by two sets to one.
