CORNWALL County Council has submitted plans to build a children?s centre on the grounds of Callington Primary School. The centre is one of six being developed across Caradon by the council?s family services department due to open next spring. Callington Town Council unanimously supported the planning application at its recent meeting. Caradon?s family services manager Maureen Hunt said: ?The centre in Callington, which has been approved by the Department for Education and Skills, is being developed with a range of partners, local businesses and childcare providers. ?It will offer creche sessions to allow training opportunities for parents as well as healthcare, parent support groups and baby and toddler groups.? The facility will not, however, include a nursery, which features in some of the centres. Callington Primary School headteacher Matthew Shirley said sited in the school grounds it would be a fantastic resource for parents: ?It will give parents ready access to all the facilities it will provide and enhance what we already have in Callington,? he said.
