AT the end of the summer term, South Tawton Primary School celebrated 30 years of dedicated service by a retiring teaching assistant. Jenny Woods is retiring from the school, having started work there in 1984. The school's chair of governors Keith Stevens, headteacher Heather Poustie and school children presented Jenny with a photo album, framed picture, flowers and cards to mark her retirement. Mrs Poustie said: 'Jenny will be greatly missed by all the children and staff here. Lots of parents and children have said that they will miss her, and she has been a big part of school life for so many at South Tawton Primary.' Jenny said: 'I have had a wonderful time here working at South Tawton Primary, and I have really enjoyed it. I have made lots of friends among the staff, and I will miss them all dearly.' Year 4 teacher Ceri Hoggins has worked at the school alongside Jenny longer than most. She said: 'The kids love her so much, and so many have have had boosts in their confidence and feelings of self worth and security thanks to working with her. 'She has really made such a difference to so many children, and that is what the job is about, making that difference. She will be missed greatly by everyone at the school, and it has been a pleasure and a privilege working with her.'
