Bridestowe Cricket Club chairman Mark Fogerty recently attended a ceremony to accept a trophy for the club's achievement in topping the league this year.He was presented with the Tolchards Devon Cricket League C Division champions’ trophy by league chairman Graham Shears at the annual general meeting and awards night in Exeter on Friday, November 26.
Bridestowe, who averaged more than 16 points a game over the season, finished comfortably ahead of nearest rivals Stoke Gabriel.
As promotion-winning captain Dan Fogerty was unable to make the event at the Exeter Court Hotel, he sent his dad, who is club chairman, along in his place.
Awards were handed out after the business part of the evening, which saw members consider proposed rule and regulation changes, most of which failed to gain any meaningful support from clubs present or online voters.
One of the few significant proposals to go through covered the provision of teas for players and officials. From 2022 there will be no compulsion on clubs to provide a tea. However, if they choose to retain what is now an option they must lodge the decision with the league before the season starts so opposing clubs can be advised.
The new fee for teas is £44. A fixed-price tea of £33 per team was fixed at the annual meeting in 2000 and has remained the same since then.
