NORTH Tawton Brownies have been busy filling boxes for the children of the village of Burzitsa, Bulgaria. The Brownies have been collecting items to fill shoe boxes as part of the scheme run by Brian and Tris Glover of Copplestone, which last year saw 803 boxes filled and delivered to poor and orphaned children in Bulgaria. The 17 Brownies have been filling the shoe boxes with toiletries, sweets, clothes, stationery, toys, colouring books, crayons and other items then wrapping them with Christmas paper. The filled boxes are delivered to Bulgaria just in time for Christmas. Lin Warre said that with one box each filled by the Brownies plus three by the leaders, there would be a total of 20 boxes going from North Tawton. A hamper draw was held to raise funds to buy more items to fill the boxes. If you would like to make a donation towards the box scheme, call Brian or Tris Glover on 01363 84413.
