IT might be the season of school summer holidays, but residents of Burdon Grange Care Home in Highampton have recently enjoyed three weeks of holidays of their own, with a range of day trips.
The home's holiday period ran from Monday, July 8, and this year saw consistent sunshine for residents on their days out.
All residents, who live with long term conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis or recovering from an acquired brain injury, enjoyed the trips.
In the first week, they took part in ten trips, including Powderham Castle's vintage steam gathering, Trethorne Leisure Park, South Devon Railway, and Living World at Torquay.
Week two saw trips to the Eden Project, Newton Abbot Races, the Alpaca Farm at Cookworthy Moor, and Roadford Lake.
The final week saw a trip to Plymouth with a boat trip around Plymouth Hoe, a visit to the Birds of Prey Centre at Newton Abbot and a visit to the Milky Way.
Residents also paid trips to the Calvert Trust to take part in canoeing, abseiling, crate stacking and a low rope assault course.
Each trip was tailored to the individual so that each person could enjoy their day out as much as possible, with residents themselves choosing where to go out for the day.
The residents' fund, which was set up by them, was used to fund some of the holiday.
The care home expressed thanks to all the staff who helped out on trips out or back at the home.
