YELVERTON Golf Club veterans played a three ball competition which ended in a win for Mike Martin Jim Rice and Bill Ednie scoring 78 points. Runners- up were Nick Ring, Martin Hix and Dennis Voisin with 76. Mike Martin and Dave Terry shared the two`s competition.

* Eight veterans — Mike Ferris, Mike Martin, Brian Wardle, Brian Blaber, Graham Plumb, Keith Stokes, David Jerimiah, and Edddy Primer — travelled to Saunton Golf Club to represent Yelverton in a veterans' team jamboree. The Yelverton side enjoyed two ball competition with all four teams scores added together at the end. Yelverton scored 154 points but it was Thurlestone that were the winners with 165 points.

* The veterans played a Texas Scramble last week in frosty conditions. The winners were Derek Maughn, Bryan Blaber and Ken Bray. They had a score of 58.5 and were closely followed by Brian Wardle, Dennis Voisin and Les Trace on 59.

It was a close competition with Jack Bovingdon, Keith Clench and Mike Bates in third place with 60.
