Peninsula South Western league division one west
Millbrook 1
Callington Town 4
CALLINGTON returned to winning ways with this hard fought victory over a battling side who, at one stage early in the second half looked the most likely to go on to win this match.
There was an explosive start with two goals in the first nine minutes.
First, Ryan Lucassi beat the static Millbrook backline to fire home, but within 30 seconds, Hussain Watta cancelled this out with a goal of his own to level the scores.
Town regained the lead five minutes from the break when Andy Harris created the chance with a great crossfield run and cut the ball back for Craig Holt to score.
Both sides had goals disallowed early in the second period for offside as neither could grab the ascendancy, although the home side did react better to the deteriorating conditions as they pressed the Town back four.
With ten minutes to go Callington finally put some clear water between them and the hosts as Harris fired home a penalty after a clear handball.
Late on, Gareth Jones, Lucassi and Matt Shipton were denied by the Millbrook keeper until in the fifth minute of injury time, Jones got onto the end of a cross to tap the ball home and complete the scoring.
