DESPITE losing to a strong Stoke Gabriel side, Callington put on an improved performance following their defeat to Bude. The away side were more organised and were proving much more difficult to breakdown. However, on the half hour mark an excellent left wing cross found the head of Laura Plant who made no mistake with her finish. Callington keeper Sara Rowe was then called into action on a couple more occasions in the first half but looked sharp between the posts.
In the second half Callington looked more threatening and began to form some attacking moves of their own. A quick change of passes in centre midfield resulted in Town's Anneliese Noakes driving a powerful shot on target, only for it to be saved by the Stoke keeper.
With 20 minutes to go Callington were hit with a sucker punch when pressing forward they were caught with a ball over the top which was latched onto by Kat Marment; she was fouled inside the box by Town full-back Ann Fisher. Plant put the spot kick away to grab her second and seal the victory.
