South Devon premier division
Chagford 1
Kingsteignton Athletic 4
ON their race night, Chagford came out of the stalls well but finished by being second best in a two horse race.
As early as the ninth minute, the hosts found themselves behind to a goal straight out of the crazy goal book. Scarry and Forsey waited for each other to clear the ball and failure to communicate with the keeper eventually led tp am attempted clearance cannoning off the defender and in.
From there on Chagford were to play with some style but without effectiveness going forward. All too often the wrong choice was made in passing, the ball not getting into Athletic's box often enough. The best chance came and went as Miller's delicate lob cleared the 'keeper and then bounced over the bar. Kingsteignton had few sightings of the home goal until they converted another gifted goal, five minutes before the break.
The visitors scored a third within three minutes of the re-start and Chagford looked a beaten side. Try as they might, the home side could not step up a gear and continued to allow themselves to be out muscled and out thought by an organised team.
The 62nd minute saw another Kingsteignton goal but Andrew Davis was to have the last word, by scoring 12 minutes from time.

Marldon FC Res 0
Chagford Res 2
DESPITE awful conditions, losing a key player to their first team and having two goals disallowed, Chagford continued their winning ways in the league.
Stuart Potter put the visitors ahead as early as the fifth minute. Ralph's corner was only cleared as far as Philpott, who teed the ball up for Potter to fire home. From there on, honours were shared as both sides struggled to master a swirling wind and incessant rain.
Marldon rarely threatened to score, finding themselves facing a settled, resolute defence.
So the match continued through the afternoon, the additional goals required by Chagford being wiped out by offside calls on two ocassions. It was left to central defender, Rob Thorn, to wrap things up with a late but deserved second goal.
