WEST Devon householders are being alerted to possible changes to their refuse and recycling collection days, which will affect the borough from next Monday.
The move comes as Devon County Council is closing West Devon?s usual refuse tip, Combebow near Bridestowe, later this week because it?s full.
Refuse from West Devon will now have to be transported to Bovey Tracey in South Devon to be tipped at Heathfield, one of only three large landfill sites left in the county.
In order to accommodate the changes, leaflets are being delivered to all homes where a day change in their weekly collections is necessary.
The information is being delivered this week by refuse collection teams from Focsa Services, who run the refuse and recycling contract on behalf of West Devon Borough Council.
There is no change of collection day in the following towns and villages: Tavistock, Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers, Brentor, Buckland Monachorum, Clearbrook, Crapstone, Chillaton, Dartmeet, Dousland, Gulworthy, Hexworthy, Horndon, Horrabridge, Lamerton, Lifton, Mary Tavy, Meavy, Milton Abbot, Milton Combe, Peter Tavy, Postbridge, Princetown, Sampford Spiney, Sheepstor, Walkhampton and Yelverton.
Even if there is no change in collection days, there may be changes to the time when your refuse and recycling is collected. Residents are asked to make sure refuse is put out for collection by 7.30am on collection day, but not before 5.30pm the night before.
Areas that will be affected by the day changes are mainly in the north of the borough. Householders are asked to look out for the leaflets.
You can check your collection day by contacting Focsa Services on 01822 616408 or West Devon Borough Council on 01822 813656.
