CHILDREN from Stoke Climsland have been learning how to communicate with the deaf, thanks to a fun club in the village. Two members of the Deaf Church in Cornwall paid a visit to the club workshop last Saturday, which is run by the local church at Stoke Climsland Primary School. Through sign language, interpreted by Debbie Harvey, Barrie Curtis explained to the children that he lost his hearing at the age of seven and told them what it was like to be deaf. The children then learnt some signs and played signing games. They were soon signing along to a song and expressing their emotions in sign. The afternoon continued with games and crafts based around the signs of Christmas. Sunday's family service in Stoke Climsland Parish Church carried on the same theme with the children showing the congregation what they had learned
