A NEW group has been set up for people in the Okehampton area wishing to combine Christianity with song and drama.

The first meeting of the West Devon Music Ministries (WDDM) at the home of Chrissie and Bob Taylor of Okehampton recently was an overwhelming success with 13 churches represented.

Ages five to 105 are welcome — and no experience is necessary because it will be a case of all learning together, said member Angela Garnham.

'WDDM is for everyone and also needs costume makers and tea makers and the like as well as some good voices and musicians.'

The first main venture for the group is the Christmas musical 'While Shepherds Watched' by Roger Jones which will be staged next Advent and probably within the 12 days of Christmas.

Rehearsals will take place monthly to fortnightly during the spring and summer then weekly from September.

Two venues will be used — the first on Tuesday March 12 at lddesleigh Methodist Chapel and on Thursday March 14 at Fairplace Methodist Chapel, Okehampton. both at 7.30pm.

As many people as possible are welcome in order to cast the roles in the play as well as to form the choir.
