A FUNDING award of £7,000 from the Local Network Fund has been made to create a young people's circus in Callington. Following the success of last year's 'Make a Show in a Week' circus project, local circus entertainers Emerge are holding a club on Fridays at Callington Primary School, where children can learn juggling, stilt walking, unicycling, platespinning, games and drama. Ali Oops, who will run the project, said: 'This is a wonderful opportunity for the local children to create their own circus. Circus skills are great fun and help improve children's confidence and co-ordination.' The club is for youngsters aged eight to 16 and will cost £2 per child, or children accompanied by a parent helper will go free. The emphasis of the project is on encouraging parents to be involved in helping with activities and the local community. Children from Callington Primary will have access to the club from 3pm to 4pm with other primary school children attending from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Older children are welcome from 4pm to 5pm.
