DANCER Cleopatra Batchelor, 17, is helping to fund her training at dance college by running ballet lessons at the Orchard Studios in Gunnislake during the summer holidays.
Cleo began dancing at the age of eleven at the Orchard Studios before being accepted for full-time vocational training at the Kate Simmons College, Warrington. The college is renowned for its high standards and attracts students from all over the world.
Cleo has enjoyed her first year and is looking forward to the next two. Her ambitions are to work firstly as a dancer and later move into teaching.
Orchard's Caroline Chapman said: 'Having Cleo back with us during the holidays is always an inspiration to our other students as she is proof of what can be achieved with dedication and hard work.
'I have taught Cleo since she began dancing and it really gives me great joy to see the elegant, beautiful dancer she has become.'
Cleo does not receive any funding towards her fees or living expenses and is, with the help of her parents, working hard to pay her own way through college. If any local businesses or individuals would be willing to contribute, contact Peter or Sara Batchelor on 01822 833956
Classes are suitable for adults of all ages and are held at every Wednesday from 5.45pm to 7.15pm. The sessions include a one-hour ballet class followed by an optional body-conditioning session and cost £5. All the money will go towards Cleo's college fees. For information on Cleo's lessons or any other classes at the studios call 01822 835859 or 07790 523877.
