Martin Chun, 60, from Whitestone near Exeter, was taking a group of 50 on a day out but was ‘not concentrating’ when he lost control on a bend on a steep hill, a jury heard.
He crashed on the hill on the A387 at Morwal just outside Looe on May 13, 2014.
The court heard that at the time of the crash, Chun was using a hands-free phone and made a number of calls during the drive. One lasted eight minutes and was made at the time of the crash.
At the trial passengers said they were ‘scared’ at the speed Chun was doing just before the collision.
The incident killed Margaret Luxton, 59, and Carol Muldoon, 68.
On Monday, August 22, a jury found Chun guilty after he had denied death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
