A COMMUNITY and well-being event is being staged in Bere Alston on Tuesday (January 23) — and residents of all ages are invited to attend.
West Devon Community and Voluntary Services (CVS), in conjunction with Wiser Money’s Transitions Project, has organised the event to be held at the parish hall in Bere Alston from 2pm to 6pm.
The event will provide an opportunity for groups to promote and market their activities and services in the Bere Peninsula, to the benefit of residents of all ages in the area.
Billie Burnett from West Devon CVS said that many local community groups are organising stalls and displays.
‘The areas of interest will appeal to both older and younger people, covering transport, housing, welfare, learning, advocacy, environment, good health and fitness as well as social and creative activities.
‘The underlying aim of the event is to help local people find out which activities and services are already available and to identify any gaps, whilst at the same time encouraging local residents to get involved, perhaps by taking up volunteering to help others in the peninsula and to have a voice in their community.’
Bere Alston Primary School pupils from the school’s drumming group will be performing at the event. There will also be some mini wellbeing activities and challenges on offer as well as some refreshments kindly donated by the Bere Alston Co-op.
