JUBILEE fever is taking hold in East Cornwall as communities prepare to celebrate the Queen's 60 years on the throne through a sea of red, white and blue this weekend.
There will be celebrations in Callington, Gunnislake, Harrowbarrow, Metherell, Calstock and Stoke Climsland.
Tomorrow (Friday) there will be a family karaoke event in The Buccaneer from 7pm and a street party in Gunnislake's Commercial Street from 1pm on Sunday for primary school children living in the village. Everyone should bring a packed lunch.
In Callington there will be a film show and a royal tea party for the children on Saturday afternoon and a variety show in the evening.
A bring and share picnic will take place on the Village Green at Stoke Climsland from 1pm on Sunday. There will be a bar, live music, circus skills, games, falconry display, face painting and a decorated crown competition. Everyone is being asked to dress in red, white and blue — there are prizes for the best outfits.
On Sunday there will be a picnic at Harrowbarrow and Metherell Village Hall with circus skills, garden games and face painting. Anyone from the community is welcome. Events begin at noon, bring your own picnic. There will be prizes for the best children's and adult's crowns.
A street party will take place at the Carpenter's Arms in Metherell on June 4 and there will be an event in Calstock Village Hall the same day with craft activities and a mini sports day for under 5s.
