FOUR communities have rallied together to present a musical extravaganza at St Peter's Church in North Tawton this weekend.
The churches and communities of North Tawton, Sampford Courtenay, Bondleigh and Honeychurch, with children from North Tawton Primary School will perform Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat today (June 20), tomorrow (June 21) and Saturday (June 22).
The show tells the story of Joseph, a sheep farmer's son who is favoured by his father and reviled by his brothers, who rises to become Viceroy of Egypt. The big cast includes children from North Tawton Primary as the children's chorus.
In his programme notes, show producer Terry Bullworthy said: 'With limited electrical resources, no proper staging and nowhere to hang lighting, putting 'Joseph' on at St Peter's was a challenge. With help, resourcefulness and some very new technology, we have managed to overcome many of the difficulties whilst maintaining the spectacle of the show.'
After covering expenses and making a donation to the PCC towards heating costs, any money left over will be donated to Children's Hospice South West and Hospiscare.
Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £3 for under 16s. To buy tickets call North Tawton Post Office on 01837 82138, the New Inn in Sampford Courtenay on 01837 82247 or Rita Bullworthy on 01837 89168.
