BT have been declared out of order again, by residents in South Zeal and Belstone. Complaints have been made that the new 3 in 1 directory produced by the telecoms firm doesn?t have the telephone numbers people need. Two years ago, BT insisted that North Devon included South Zeal, Belstone and Okehampton and much of mid-West Devon, divorcing those people from Exeter, their main business and social centre. A move that caused a deluge of complaints from people in those areas. At the time, customers were assured that the situation would be resolved, that the error would not happen again and were provided with a free copy of the Exeter directory. Local resident Roy Radford said: ?The recently issued 2005/06 directory repeats the error, confirming BT has ignored its mid West Devon customers.? Mr Radford said his experience had included calls lasting 42 minutes without speaking to a human being and a call of just over one hour in duration where persistence paid off. Mr Radford said one South Zeal resident when complaining to BT about the new directory was told that she came under the Sticklepath area and ?the only Sticklepath in Devon was near Barnstaple!? BT have said that people in the area wishing to complain about being provided with a North Devon Directory should telephone 0800 833 400 and use option one to register their complaint. Furthermore, anyone also requesting an Exeter area directory will be provided with a copy free of charge.
