A YOUNG musician from Zeal Monachorum played a free memorial concert recently, raising £250 for charity. Carl Woodison, 14, who attends Okehampton College, raised the money by playing his trumpet at a memorial charity concert held at the Waie Inn, in memory of Michael Perrett of Zeal Monachorum. His widow Sylvia Perrett asked Carl if he would play a free concert which she held for family and many friends who had attended her late husband?s funeral. The £250 was donated at the end of the performance. During the first half of the performance Carl played tenor horn, accompanied by his mother Jane Bridgewood-Woodison playing the flute and his father Trevor Woodison on the piano. During the second half, Carl ? who is a member of Torrington Silver Band ? gave a solo trumpet recital. Mrs Nott, whose daughter Rachel attends the Ellen Tinkham School, said the money would be used for the Crediton and District summer playscheme for children with special needs, which is held over six days during the summer holiday.
