BELSTONE completed the double over Yeoford last Thursday with a convincing 53 run victory in their latest Twenty-20 match in the Buckley Cup. Openers Pete Gross and Richard Drake quickly got the Belstone run rate up to six an over with a mix of boundaries and well judged singles before they retired on 26 and 25 respectively. Phil Woods (21) and Andrew Paterson (26 retired) pressed home the advantage before some lusty blows from Terry Jeal (19 not out from nine balls) took the score to a competitive 148 for three after 20 overs. Yeoford started brightly to reach 23 for one after four overs before two wickets in Scott Tremain?s third over put them on the defensive. Neil Allport held the innings together with a solid 36 not out but wickets fell steadily at the other end as Belstone regained their catching ability after a few poor performances lately ? Rob Sandercock, Chris Gomersall and Tremain snapping up difficult chances. With Terry Jeal taking his season?s wicket tally to 19 with figures of three for eight from four overs the game finished with Yeoford well short of their target on 95 for nine.
