THE Cheese Company?s Taw Valley Creamery in North Tawton was this week celebrating scooping an incredible 19 awards at the Frome Cheese Show. The creamery won both the supreme champion and the reserve champion titles, as well as nine first prizes, five second prizes and three third prizes. Taw Valley Creamery?s 24 month-old Cheddar, which it produces using a recipe developed for Sainsbury?s, won the supreme champion prize and the reserve champion title was taken by the creamery?s special reserve red Leicester, which is produced for Sainsbury?s. Brian Kerr, general manager at Taw Valley Creamery said it was a ?fantastic achievement? to be awarded the two main prizes. ?To also receive 17 medals shows how our cheeses were popular with the judges across the board,? he said. ?As much of our milk comes from dairy farmers in the South West, we are particularly proud to have performed so well at this local show. This result would not have been possible without the skill and dedication of our staff at the creamery in North Tawton.?
