THE DREAM is over for a young East Cornwall footballer who was competing for a contract with Italian champions Inter Milan.

Dominic Matcham, 17, appeared on Sky TV's Football's Next Star after being selected as one of the ten finalists in trials up and down the country, but was eliminated after his first week in Italy.

The finalists were offered the opportunity to train at Inter Milan's academy and had just two days of training and a practice match to make a first impression on the youth coaches before one of them was sent home.

Dominic, who was chosen from 7,000 entrants, is not giving up on his ambition to be footballer, however, and has recently had trials with championship sides Crystal Palace and Bristol City.
