CHILDREN at Bridestowe Primary School enjoyed sitting in a real-life police vehicle when PCSO Lisa Smith visited them recently.
PCSO Smith, from Okehampton Police Station, visited the children on Thursday last week to mark Road Safety Week. She brought with her a police transit van complete with siren.
‘Lisa came into speak to the children about road safety, and in particular about how to cross the road,’ said Hazel Lowden. ‘They dressed up in a policeman’s hat and sat in the van and she put the siren on. All the children were very excited.’
She said they had also taken on board the information shared on road safety.
‘It was all about teaching the children to be responsible and keep themselves safe, which is an important part of what they learn at Bridestowe Primary School.’
