LAMERTON Primary School’s new garden area is now complete thanks to a grant from Tesco’s ‘Bags of Help’.
The school was awarded £2,000 which allowed staff and pupils to work with local artist Andy Cairns to develop mosaics and hangings.
Class 1 designed the leaves on the tree and Class 2 researched religious symbols which are incorporated on the trunk of the tree — a fish, a Torah, a mosque, a Buddhist wheel and a Hindu flower. They also made woodland animals and insects.
The school’s garden is already well used for some quiet time at lunch and for whole class story time and music lessons.
Melody Nicholls, executive head teacher, said: ‘We are delighted with the final outcome which incorporates designs from every child in the school.’
