OKEHAMPTON Music Centre is welcoming everyone to the Octagon Theatre at Okehampton College for a priority registration and open evening on Thursday, November 30 at 5.30pm.

The music centre seeks to increase access to high quality, affordable instrumental tuition for young people and get more young people involved in music. Pupils are taught instruments in small groups, as well as coming together in a larger group to experience orchestral playing, all under the instruction of specialist teachers.

There is also a choir and pupils can combine the choir with instrumental lessons, or to join the choir on its own if they prefer.

The open evening will have a performance by current pupils, which will be followed by an opportunity for prospective pupils to try out the various instruments which they could learn.

The sessions are highly subsidised thanks to the support of Okehampton United Charities and the Devon Music Education Hub. This support helps to keep Okehampton Music Centre affordable as possible for all families. Subsidised or free instrument hire is available.

Lessons are available for beginners in Years 3 to 11.

There are also chances to volunteer for older students with musical experience to help in the orchestral workshops and choir.
