TAVISTOCK Round Table has donated £500 for new books at Whitchurch Community Primary School.

Chairman Phil Timings said: ‘We had found out about the superb work the Whitchurch Community Primary School children had done raising £500 through bag packing at Tesco, receiving donations at a Christmas concert and holding a book fair.

‘They approached us with a request for a donation helping them reach their target of a £1,000. We felt that the right thing to do was not only to donate, but match what they had raised in recognition of all the hard work they had done; helping them reach their target.’

Phil added: ‘Access to books helps children to develop language skills, imagination and confidence and this is something we are very proud, and honoured, to have been involved with and support.’
