MOUNT Kelly is helping out the community by delivering food parcels to households that need support by working with Tavistock Locals Help, West Devon Borough Council, Tavistock Foodbank and Morrisons.
Food donations are being collected from Tavistock Foodbank and Morrisons and supplementary items are then added from Mount Kelly’s own stock.
The school’s volunteers then bag up the items and deliver them to those in need, in particular, those that are unable to visit Tavistock Foodbank in person.
Fifteen members of staff have volunteered to help and two vans and eight mini-buses, storage space, including fridges and freezers, have been made available for use.
Headteacher Guy Ayling said: ‘Mount Kelly is delighted to be able to support the Tavistock Locals Help initiative. We must all help one another wherever we can, especially in the current climate.’
Mount Kelly has also given items of personal protection equipment (PPE) to NHS Devon Clinical Commission Group as well as much-needed cleaning products to support and protect frontline NHS staff and care organisations across Devon.
Mr Ayling added: ‘We are very pleased to be able to help the NHS by donating PPE and other items which are in demand.’
