ELEVEN-year-old Emily Tripp is Tavistock’s 2018 carnival princess.

Emily and her attendants Tilly Young, aged 11 and Verona-May Peters, aged ten, were chosen by judges Jan Meakin, the incoming president for the Lions Club of Tavistock and representatives from the joint sponsors, Lawsons of Tavistock and the Tavistock Times Gazette at a recent ceremony in the Parish Rooms.

The girls will make their first appearance in their carnival finery at the baby show in the Parish Rooms on Saturday, July 14 and will be officially crowned at 3pm the following day during the Fun Day in the Meadows.

On the following Saturday, they will lead the carnival procession through the town, the theme for which this year is Countries of the World.

Jan thanked all of the girls that took part in the competition and the judges for their help with a very difficult task and for their companies’ continued support of carnival week.
