Carlsberg South Western League Millbrook 4 Tavistock 3 THE Lambs came away from Mill Park very unfortunate not to have had a share of the points after going three goals down early in the second half. The home side got off to a good start with Andy Meeds having to pull off saves from Lee Coxon and John Morris in the seventh and eighth minute before Ryan Fice opened the scoring two minutes later when he got past the last line of defence to go wide of Meeds to slot home. Will Stringer then shot at Meeds before the Lambs got back on level terms after half an hour. Duncan Duthie?s free kick into the area saw Darren Edwards get in a challenge for the ball to fall kindly to Mark Conday to rifle home from close range. Conday went close minutes later after Sean Cann, John Gosling and James Steer combined to set him up forcing keeper Jason Chapman to concede a corner. Gosling went close with a free kick but it was the home side that regained the lead in injury time of the first half. Matt Cusack slipped a defender on the half way line and a second to go on and beat Meeds. The Lambs were completely rocked back on their heels at the start of the second half. Ryan Honey shot weakly at Meeds in the opening minute and they went further ahead on 48 minutes when Will Stringer and Fice each raced across goal to get on the end of Paul Edwards?s free kick with the Lambs? defence deserted. Fice was on target five minutes later as the ball fell to him in the area to make it 4-1 to the home side. Cusack hit the crossbar minutes later and it looked like the Lambs were dead and buried. But the New Year has seen a more spirited display from them and back they came just prior to the hour when Will Westlake found the bottom corner of the net with a well taken free kick. It gave them a little bit of self belief and had Mark Conday hit the target on 68 minutes after sub Daniel Fadida put him through the game well might have had a different ending. The Lambs had to wait until the 80th minute before they got another one back when Conday back heeled the ball into the path of sub Paul Dugard whose shot was deflected to Westlake to get his second. The all important equaliser would just not come with Westlake shooting over from a Duthie free kick and it was Westlake who tormented the home side in the closing stages as he got down the left to shoot over and then crossed for Conday to just fail to make a connection with Chapman saving from Conday into injury time. Team: Andy Meeds, John Gosling, Duncan Duthie, Mark Wall (sub Dan Fadida 62m), Sean Cann, Alan Yendall (Capt), James Steer, Darren Edwards (sub Darren Edwards 65m, Paul Adcock (sub Matt Martin45m), Mark Conday, Will Westlake.
