THERE’S a chance to explore the town’s most famous ruin and enjoy the last of the spring bluebells at Okehampton Castle’s Bluebell Sunday celebrations this Sunday (May 19).
With free entry for the day and a packed programme of family friendly entertainment, the special spring event invites visitors to rediscover the historic site amidst the beauty of the bluebells.
This year’s highlights include live music from Wren Music’s folk choir and medieval weaponry displays by West Devon Swords.
Tours of the castle will reveal some of the hidden stories of the castle, and nature walks and activities with the dormouse conservation team will reveal more about the flora and fauna of the woodlands.
The Museum of Dartmoor Life will be displaying items relating to the castle as well as a handling collection, and there will be spinning and weaving demonstrations throughout the day.
Families can also get hands on with medieval themed craft activities and games including have-a-go archery.
The day runs from 10am to 5pm.
