STUDENTS and staff at Callington College have been rewarded for all their hard work, dedication and commitment over the past two years by securing excellent A-level and Level 3 results.
The college said this year, once again, the students had performed ‘superbly’ and for many students it was a ‘fitting end’ to their time at the college. They will now look forward with excitement in pursuing the next step of their young lives.
All students who applied to higher education courses are in the process of accepting their chosen institutions and courses. Students successfully completed their qualifications with the vast majority achieving a grade A* to C. Students entered for Level 3 vocational qualifications all passed their qualifications with over 80% of grades being awarded a Distinction* or Distinction.
A spokesperson for the college said: ‘Congratulations must go to all students in recognising their many achievements both inside and outside of the classroom. The students have embraced every aspect of sixth form life and have been superb role models to the younger students and the wider community. Many students have successfully completed additional qualifications such as Level 3 EPQ, Level 3 core mathematics, Higher Sports Leaders Award (HSLA) and First Aid in addition to giving up their time to help run college clubs, support younger students, volunteer within the community, support curriculum areas as well as being involved in college productions, music shows, sporting events, work placements and enrichment week.’
Student of the year Georgia Walters achieved three Distinction* in her health and social care qualification, as well as achieving a B in psychology and an A* in her EPQ. Georgia will now attend her first choice university, Cardiff, to study midwifery.
Tristan Pyzer, Luke Sambells, James Paxman, Alfred Hawkins, Harvey James, Harry Tredinnick and William Tucker achieved all A and B grades across their A-level subjects.

Director of sixth form at Callington Community College Alan Yendell said: ‘The college is really proud of the students’ achievements. They have all shown a great deal of commitment and dedication over the past two years to successfully complete their qualifications while also accessing the many opportunities that our college provides them to enrich themselves as a young person. This has certainly contributed to the amazing offers thy have received from top universities and employers as they now take the next steps towards their personal and career aspirations.
‘I would like to personally thank the students for all their efforts and hard work but also recognise the amazing support our teachers and staff have given them to help them become successful young adults.
‘We wish every single one of them the very best in their futures.’
