AS part of its Light Up a Life memorial events, Hospiscare is holding a special service at Fairplace Church, Okehampton, tomorrow (Friday, November 25) in memory of loved ones from across the area that are no longer here.

Light up a Life is a series of special community events organised by hospices that take place around the UK during the festive period. These events help families and friends come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.

Usually, the most important part of these events is the opportunity to dedicate a message in memory of a loved one by lighting a candle, hanging a message on a tree, recording the name of someone special in a book of remembrance, or reading it aloud.

The charity is supporting those missing a cherished family members or friend at this time of year with its Light Up a Life non-religious joyous memorial services at Fairplace Church, as well as other churches across the area.

The memorial service will take place at 7pm. Those wishing to attend do not need to register or have tickets. Voluntary donations are welcome on the day.

Hospiscare provides free, high quality care and support to people with a progressive life-limiting illness, and those close to them, in Exeter, East and Mid Devon.

It is estimated that over the Christmas week, more than 300 local people will be receiving specialist care from Hospiscare.

Donations from the community raised by these and other events support people needing specialist end of life care provided by the charity.
