AN insurance inspector for regional insurer Cornish Mutual will say a fond farewell to the company's members this month as he retires after 26 years with the organisation.

Terry Nott joined Cornish Mutual in 1988 to cover the Okehampton area having previously worked as a farmer for 23 years. To thank him for his hard work over a quarter of a century, the insurer arranged for Terry, who is an Exeter Chiefs season ticket holder, to be presented with a signed shirt by his favourite player fly half Gareth Steenson at a recent game.

Mr Nott said: 'I can honestly say I have enjoyed all my years working for Cornish Mutual. My career with them proved that insurance can be a lot more fun than people might think – my colleagues and the members who became friends always ensured that the job stayed interesting.

'I'd like to say a big thank you to all my colleagues, past and present, and to all the Cornish Mutual Members I worked with. I hope they also have fond memories of our time together, and will continue to do business with the only local rural insurer for the South West.'

Alan Goddard, managing director of Cornish Mutual, said: 'We employ individuals who are trustworthy, honest and have excellent professional standards. Terry has all of these attributes and to have worked for us for 26 years is a testament to his value to the company. We wish him all the very best in his retirement, although it sounds like he will be kept very busy.'
