THE 78-year-old West Devon man found dead in a Dartmoor river earlier this month has been named as Norman Skelly.

Mr Skelly, who farmed at Meavy, was buried yesterday (Wednesday) in a service at Shaugh Prior church.

He was found in the river close to Norsworthy Bridge at Burrator on Sunday, December 5, by the Dartmoor Rescue Group.

Police said he had gone for a short walk, leaving his wife in the car, but failed to return.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned by the West Devon coroner.
