RAINFALL could not dampen the spirits of this year’s Edwardian Evening, which provided Christmas fun for visitors to Okehampton last Thursday night.
Shops were open late into the evening and shoppers could enjoy carol singing, music from Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band, singing from Okehampton Singers and Wren Choir, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and the barrel organ providing the atmosphere throughout the event.
Donald Rooke, a member of the town’s chamber of trade and owner of Donald’s Menswear, said the event was a success, putting ‘Okehampton in a good light’ and was a great showcase for the town’s Christmas lights display.
